Clare Education Centre are delighted to share the latest edition of Full STEAM Ahead, their teacher-led magazine developed by teachers, for teachers. This issue focuses on Enquiry-Based Learning and offers practical classroom approaches, real lesson ideas and reflections drawn directly from everyday teaching practice.A sincere thank you to the teachers on the STEAM Team in Clare Education Centre whose collaboration and commitment made this publication possible. SunSmart lesson plans

The HSE’s National Cancer Control Programme (NCCP) and Healthy Ireland are encouraging schools across the country to remind children, parents and teachers of the importance of protecting skin when outside in the sun.We have developed SunSmart lesson plans and activity sheets for SPHE (Safety and Protection). These provide teachers with ideas and materials to support the integration of sun protection education and behaviours into the classroom. These lesson plans provide teachers with ideas and materials to support the integration of sun protection education and behaviours into the classroom.We have also launched our SunSmart School Toolkit for Primary and Post Primary Schools Resource - this resource provides your school with information resources and supports to become a SunSmart School.By completing some simple steps schools could be accredited by the HSE’s NCCP as a SunSmart School. City College Dublin SNA course will give you comprehensive knowledge about the development and learning process in children with special needs.

You will attend class one evening a week from 6.30 pm to 9.30 pm for 20 evenings. This allows you to fit learning around your busy working and family life.
 
The course fee is already inclusive of all documentation, lecturing, learner registration, and QQI certification fees. There are no other fees to pay.
 

During this course, you will

  • learn about child development and behaviour theories, giving you a strong foundation for understanding the various stages of development.
  • learn about the role and responsibilities of a special needs assistant.
  • explore different activities that promote physical, social, emotional, and intellectual development in children with a variety of disabilities. 
  • learn about EPSEN Act and Irish Legislation, professionalism in the SNA sector and how to implement Individual Educational Plans (IEP’s).
  • explore the role of the Multi-Disciplinary Teams to ensure integration, inclusion, and equal opportunities.

This course also includes an overview of the primary and secondary school curriculum.
