Primary Debating 2016-17 Training Workshop for Teachers

A training workshop will take place in The Education Centre Tralee on Tuesday 13th December at 3.00p.m. for both teachers and adjudicators who wish to participate in this years Primary Debating Competion.

Concern Worldwide Teacher Training Sessions

Concern Worldwide invites teachers participating in the Concern Primary Debates Programme to an interactive training session. Teachers will receive practical advice and tips on how to successfully integrate the Debates programme within their classroom.

Teachers will receive:

  • Lesson plans on how to incorporate Debating into the classroom.
  • Debating methodologies.
  • Tips on how to approach motions with a class group.
  • Advice on tackling development issues.
  • New handbook with rules and regulations for the programme

Havingcompletedyourinitialteachingqualificationyouarenowenteringthenextphaseonthecontinuumof teachereducation.WewishtoassureyouthattheNationalInductionProgrammeforTeacherswill be hereto supportyou throughouttheyearahead.

TheInductionProgrammeisa flexiblelearningprogramme,fundedby theDepartmentofEducationandSkills,and designedtomeettheparticularprofessionallearningneedsofnewlyqualifiedteachers.Theprogramme,whichis coordinatedbytheNationalInductionProgrammeforTeachers(NIPT),buildsonthelearningthattookplaceduring initialteachereducation.ItcanbetailoredbyanNQTdependingonhisorherparticularcircumstances.Subjecttoan overallminimumof20hoursofprofessionallearning,NQTsmaycombineschool-basedprofessionallearning activitieswithoffsiteworkshops.EngagementintheInductionProgrammeisarequirementforallnewlyqualified

teachers wishingtobefullyregisteredwiththeTeachingCouncil.

Professionaldevelopment(PD)willbecentraltoyoursuccessandeffectivenessasateacherasyoumakeyourway along the continuumofteachereducation.TheNIPTInductionProgrammeisthestarting pointforthatprocessofPD, andwehopethatyouenjoyandbenefitfromparticipationintheprogramme.Wewelcomefeedbackfrom youthroughout theyear,thusenablingtheNIPTtoinnovateanddeveloptheworkshop programme.

Seachtain na Gaeilge 2015 - 25th February The Education Centre Tralee

As Seachtain na Gaeilge approaches PSDT will host workshops with practical ideas for promoting the Irish language. The workshop will be linked to the curriculum
