Themes:
Meaningful Outdoor PE Activities for schools in current context. The focus will primarily be on the strands of Outdoor & Adventure Activities and Athletics. The panel will also discuss good practices in PE with reference to the upcoming revised curriculum.
Structure:
· Practical resources and suggestions for Outdoor Adventure Activities and Athletics (Liam Clohessy, PDST and IPPEA)
· Sharing experiences, scenarios and cases – looking at possibilities to innovate in practice (Dr Déirdre Ní Chróinín, Mary Immaculate College)
· Good PE practices in the context of a changing PE curriculum – what do good practices look like? (Dr Richard Bowles, Mary Immaculate College)
· Panel Discussion:
- What is ‘Meaningful PE’?
- What questions are raised for PE practices in your school?
- How do you take responsibility for leading PE?
This session will be accompanied by resources, practical strategies and insightful ideas for thinking about.
