This series of webinars will explore the power of play to support children’s transition to primary school and progression in their learning through the infant years, and beyond. The first webinar will focus on play’s features and functions, using play to support transition; and strategies to support learning through guided play. The second webinar will focus on strategies for integrating play successfully with the curriculum; the provision of appropriately challenging play; assessment and play; co-constructing playful learning with children; and the potential of play to promote connections in learning into first class, and beyond.
Bio of Presenter: Dr. Lisha O’Sullivan

Dr. Lisha O’Sullivan is Head of Department of Reflective Pedagogy and Early Childhood Studies at Mary Immaculate College (MIC), Limerick. Lisha lectures in early childhood education at MIC and supervises students’ research at undergraduate, Master’s and Ph.D. levels. A qualified Play Therapist, Lisha’s research interests include early years curriculum and pedagogy, the role of play in development and inclusive education.
