21TRA073 The Classroom with the Green Floor & Blue Ceiling - Bringing Teaching and Learning Outdoors
The content of the course will include-
- Why using the outdoors as a location and resource for teaching and learning has never been so relevant
- How to teach simple cross-curricular lessons outdoors with primary school classes and stay sane
- Sample lessons and ideas for a range of curricular subjects for all primary class levels for the final school term
- Ideas for developing outdoor spaces in school grounds
All participants will receive a copy of the presentation as well as sample seasonal lesson plans, accompanying planning notes, online links and editable SESE trails.
Paul O’Donnell is principal of St. Patrick’s N.S., Slane, Co. Meath and is currently seconded to the CPSMA management body. He has facilitated many courses nationwide on bringing teaching and learning outdoors. Paul is also the author of Wild Teaching Cross-curricular Lessons Outdoors for Agoraphobic Teachers, published by Meath Co. Council and The Heritage Council. The book has been featured on the RTE Radio 1 programme, Mooney Goes Wild, the INTO’s InTouch magazine and a recent NCCA webinar on bringing learning outdoors. @Donegalpaul9
