Looking to strengthen how intervention works in your Post Primary Literacy/Special Education setting? This four part webinar series will help you build a clear, cohesive approach to improving student outcomes, with a strong focus on how language and knowledge underpin literacy.
Across four 90 minute sessions, Lyn Stone guides you through the full intervention journey, from accurate assessment to targeted teaching and sustained impact.
Session 1 begins with assessment, exploring how to identify the real barriers behind underperformance and use data meaningfully.
Session 2 then moves into reading intervention, focusing not only on decoding and fluency, but on the knowledge that supports them, including vocabulary, morphology, and the structure of language.
Session 3 turns to writing intervention, breaking down how to develop students’ sentence control, structure, and confidence, alongside a deeper understanding of how words work within sentences and across texts.
Session 4 focuses on words, their structure, and how they are learned. Drawing on morphology, etymology, and orthographic conventions, this session explores how teachers can build students’ knowledge of word families, word categories, and subject specific language, from scientific terminology to literary concepts. It also challenges the idea that a single off the shelf programme can address the complexity of secondary literacy needs.
Whether you are a classroom teacher, literacy lead, or school leader, this series will equip you with practical tools, clear frameworks, and knowledge that can be applied across subjects.
Join this series to deepen your understanding of language and refine your approach to Post Primary intervention.
