Children use fine motor skills to do so many school related tasks including holding a pencil, writing neatly, drawing, using scissors, zipping their coat, tying their school-laces and the list goes on. This webinar will explore the importance of fine motor skills in the classroom, how to identify difficulties and fun ways of supporting their development for primary school-aged kids. Jess will also be discussing how to design creative, fun and effective fine motor stations for the classroom. This webinar will be full of practical tips and activity demonstrations that can be used with larger and smaller groups of children.
Jess Kennedy is a multi-award winning Senior Paediatric Occupational Therapist (OT) who is based in Cork, Ireland. Jess has worked in private practice for 7 years in both Australia and Ireland. She founded her company, My OT & Me in 2018 where she provides home-based intervention that is family-centred. Jess has created a motor skills program called Octobox which contains custom designed activities for children aged between 3-9 years old. She also has a learning platform for parents and educators called My OT University where she shares practical tips and strategies around child development. Jess has also been published in the Huffington Post & The Journal of Occupational Science and is an Alumni Speaker for the Global Undergraduate Awards.
