This PLN will focus on classroom practices and strategies that will support the literacy development of all students in the mainstream classroom setting. It will be followed by a discussion of practice in the participants’ schools, facilitated by LAI PLN members.
Bio of Presenter: Dr Rachel Lenihan

Rachel Lenihan is Assistant Professor in Teaching, Learning and Assessment in the School of Education at the University of Limerick. Before joining the team in UL in 2022, she was a post primary teacher of English and History for 17 years. She worked as a School Placement Development Officer in the Department of Education and Professional Studies in UL in 2015-1016. This role involved supporting undergraduate students while on school placement as well as forging links between schools and the university. Her doctoral study, completed in 2019, examines teachers' understandings of literacy in the Post-Primary setting. Other areas of interest include education policy, English pedagogy, assessment, Global Citizenship Education and reflective practice.
