Transition Year affords teachers a wonderful opportunity to introduce students to both extra-curricular material that they would not otherwise study and to material on the Leaving Certificate syllabus. Finding that balance can be tricky. In this session, Claire will provide guidance and tips on:  

-Lesson plans and units of learning for term planning 

-Activities and projects that are enjoyable and educational and will appeal to all kinds of learners in your classroom 

-Content that will be both interesting and valuable to students and will ensure engagement for the year 

-Content with links to the Leaving Certificate Syllabus

Bio of Presenter: Claire Cotter

Claire Cotter is an English and History Teacher in Christian Brothers College, Cork. She also works as the school's SEN Coordinator. Claire holds a Masters Degree in International Relations from the School of History in UCC. She co-hosts a successful weekly podcast called 'What's the History?'. Claire has over twelve years experience teaching English and history at Junior and Senior Cycle.
