Page 1 of 7 The Network was being established as a direct result of a World-Wise school’s request to the Education Centre Tralee.
The Centre has always been committed to promoting and fostering CSPE & Development Education and through the years this has been manifest in a number of ways such as engagement in the Lesotho project, early accommodation and interaction with Kerry Assoc for Development Education, Intercultural Education initiatives etc.
The Centre promotes and supports the work of these and other schools at both primary & second Levels in their efforts to develop the school and larger community by adopting a holistic approach to student and teacher development and understandings through these practices. The Centre recognises the importance of modelling good practice. Networking affords schools the opportunity for creativity and sustainability in an efficient and practical context. Expertise and experience can be capitalised, common approaches and best practice can be shared, new approaches can be developed tested through cooperation and collaboration, opportunities for community development can be maximised and dissemination strategies developed and employed. Above all a sense of belonging is promoted and may well be the motivating factor necessary for sustainability and future development.
